Description of Restaurant: | ||

Take a large space with a great view that was once just another beach restaurant and transform it into a captivating dining environment replete with venues for all, and you have FIVE FIVE ONE! Or, let’s go out to the SANDBAR where one can enjoy a drink and some light fare right on the beach deck. Or, hang out inside at the RAW BAR & Lounge and enjoy some real fresh shell fish, tapas and cocktails. Great wine list. Joined by some of my “foodie” dining companions it was time for some delicious Flo-Cal (Florida/California fare). One of the appetizers was Pan Roasted Lamb “circles” @ $10 per dish, which was succulent bites of lamb with a salsa to tease your senses. The Crispy Fried Calamari @ $8 per dish, with jalapeño crushed pepper orange chutney was perfect with one of the wines by the glass I tried (there are 20 to chose from). I am normally not a soup fan but my beach friends and I tried them all – the Baked 3 Cheeses Onion Soup @ $5 per bowl beats the one I had months ago at a top Paris restaurant; and the Cream of Crab Soup with smoked paprika oil will excite your taste buds. I always opt for the Spinach Salad @ $7 per dish, and the Chef’s Baby Spinach Salad with warm goat cheese soufflé, candied walnuts, apple crisp bacon vinaigrette was a knock out. The Jardin Bleu Crusted Diver Sea Scallops @ $24 per dish with creamy polenta, blue crab, vanilla bean butter were cooked to my liking with a fresh out of the water taste!! FIVE FIVE ONE’S mantra is “their fish will be the freshest and most interesting from the world over.” The Lavender Honey Baked Halibut @ $21 per dish also live up to the boast. Your Love Chef had to have pasta – Cavatappi Pasta (which resembles a small corkscrew) with braised pork and haberñero pesto sour cream at $12 per dish. This one I am going to try to duplicate in my kitchen. It’s a keeper. Steak lovers rejoice, here’s midwest certified aged Angus beef broiled to a high temperature (you can’t do at home) to 1500N, searing in the flavor and juices. Their New York Strip (12 oz.) Cut @ $35 per dish came accompanied by Maytag blue cheese, mashed potatoes, sautéed brocolini in Bordelaise sauce. The steaks are as good or better than any I’ve had in a USA steakhouse. Now I shouldn’t tell you, but the Desserts priced from $4 to $7 are all worth the calories. Hopefully, the Mango Cheese Cake with passion fruit sauce will always be on the menu; it’s outstanding. All agreed the food was exceptional and the added feature of every table overlooking the water is priceless! Boys and girls, if you opt for lunch dishes $5-$15 like the Blackened Lobster Tacos @ $11 the plate, or the juicy Kobe Burger @ $13, it’s addictive! FIVE FIVE ONE has their VENETIAN ROOM which accommodates 60 people or the intimate PRIVATE DINING ROOM for 30 people, and your private deck on Clearwater Pointe! Inquire about upcoming wine and beer dinner extravaganzas. This is definitely a Love Chef destination! |
